Tropicana’s "Tambores en Concierto" show is the mother of all cabaret shows based in Havana, Cuba. Acclaimed throughout the world as the oldest and largest Afro Cuban cabaret that first opened its doors on New Year's Eve 1939. One of the most lavish nightclub spectacles in the world, the show is set in the open air of a rain forest in Havana and has performed to over 2.5 million visitors. The cast of 120 performers consists of the best dancers, musicians and choreographers that Cuba has to offer.
In the 1940’s was when the first series of shows would be created in the Tropicana Cabaret when Cuba was a haven for the rich and the famous. In the years to follow the show Tropicana was born. Compared to the ones seen in Las Vegas or at the famous Lido cabaret in Paris during the 50’s, Tropicana has become a legend in its own right throughout the world.
The shows have played host to such renowned stars as Nat King Cole, Josephine Baker, Celia Cruz, Liberace, Omara Portuondo (Buena Vista Social Club), Marlene Dietrich and others. Many nights the audience was just as famous. Marlon Brando, Sammy Davis, Jr., Greta Garbo and other Hollywood stars came to the cabaret. In April 2013 Beyonce and Jay Z were invited guests to see Tambores en Concierto making the venue the ideal place to be seen.
Tambores en Concierto and previous shows have performed internationally in England, Japan, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and numerous other destinations.

"TAMBORES EN CONCIERTO"
Drums of Havana is a high-energy performance art, urban, Latin, crossover feature film in development by PerformArts International (associate partner of Entertainment Central). The backdrop of the story will be the internationally renowned Tropicana Cabaret show “Tambores en Concierto” based in Havana, Cuba. Consisting of over 100 performers on stage it’s considered one of the most lavish nightclub spectacles in the world. PerformArts International has secured the exclusive worldwide rights to the show for the film at an historic time as Cuba-US relations are warming.
For the very FIRST time ever a global audience will be given the opportunity to experience the show that has been called the “Mother of All Latin Shows” through two separate, yet inextricably bound and interlinked productions. The concept of telling the story of Drums of Havana in two separate projects creates the opportunity for larger and faster returns deriving from theatrical release, online SVOD (i.e. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus, etc.), Television, VOD (video on demand) and the soundtrack recording (digital downloads, Cd sales and streaming).
This will be the first feature film project of its kind to be produced by an North American production company showcasing Tambores en Concierto which is the centerpiece of the story.
The screenplay "Drums of Havana" written by Michael Jarvis (Director), Curtis Patterson, Hugo Sasso and Jeremy Hood is an urban, romantic performance piece with a unique cultural voice. The film will be supported by a sizzlin' soundtrack with a mix of Latin, R&B, Pop, Dance and Hip Hop performed by major U.S. and Cuban recording artists.
Production for Drums of Havana is tentatively scheduled for mid 2018 to be filmed in Havana and Toronto.
