Every once in a while a new artist emerges that has a unique and refreshing quality that stands out from the rest. Sofia Blu is one performer that fits into this category.
This 13 year old vocalist from Blue Mountain-Collingwood, Ontario embraces a natural gift that has been evolving since an early age.
Sofia Blu started taking piano lessons in primary school and shortly thereafter she began singing. It was obvious to her family and those around her that Sofia had a deep passion for music and the arts. She has been dancing since age 3, including ballet, jazz, tap, lyrical and musical theatre, which lead her to song and dance.
Sofia Blu is very active in local community productions and has performed at the Kiwanis Music Festival (alumni’s include Justin Bieber, Sarah McLachlan and Gordon Lightfoot) and has received several awards for her musical talent. She also belongs to the Collingwood Sing Club, a local performing girls singing ensemble.
A multi-instrumentalist, Sofia Blu plays piano, guitar and flute and loves to compose music. She has a wide range of musical preferences but really enjoys listening to old school 70’s/80’s songs and is a big fan of Michael Jackson and Madonna amongst others.
For the past few months Sofia Blu has been in the studio working on original music with various producers, writers and beat makers.
Sofia Blu’s new debut single “Be Myself” is a mid-tempo Pop track with a catchy hook, distinct synth riff and a solid danceable beat. The track was produced by Grammy nominated songwriter-producer Davy Nathan (Christina Aguilera, Robin Thicke, Jason Derulo, Empire) and Derrick Wright (Adele Asst. Musical Director/Drummer).
