"NEVER BEFORE SEEN IN THE USA"
TROPICANA DREAMS is the mother of all cabaret shows based in Havana, Cuba. The Tropicana Club is acclaimed throughout the world as the oldest and largest Afro Cuban cabaret that first opened its doors on New Years Eve 1939. One of the most lavish nightclub spectacles in the world, the show is set in the open air of a rain forest in Havana and plays to thousands of tourist annually. The cast of 120 performers consists of the best dancers, musicians and choreographers that Cuba has to offer.
In the 1940’s was when the first series of shows would be created in the Tropicana Cabaret when Cuba was a haven for the rich and the famous. In the years to follow the show Tropicana was born. Compared to the ones seen in Las Vegas or at the famous Lido cabaret in Paris during the 50’s, Tropicana has become a legend in its own right throughout the world.
The name inspired flautist/composer Alfredo Brito to compose and perform the famous melody “Tropicana” during the New Years Eve celebrations of 1940, the first night its doors opened. This sexy hedonistic-like carnival explosion of distinct Afro-Cuban dancers, singers, and musicians acclaimed throughout the world unfolds on a remarkable “spider” designed stage in Villa Mina, Cuba in the heart of a lush tropical forest. Often compared as the “Vegas show of the Caribbean”, it is an event seen by domestic and foreign dignitaries, royalty, Hollywood stars and now you.
The show has played host to such renowned stars as Nat King Cole, Josephine Baker, Celia Cruz, Carmen Miranda, Liberace, Omara Portuondo (Buena Vista Social Club), Marlene Dietrich and others. Many nights the audience was just as famous. Marlon Brando, Sammy Davis, Jr., Greta Garbo and other Hollywood stars came to the Tropicana. In April 2013 Beyonce and Jay-Z where invited guest making the venue the ideal place to see and be seen.
TROPICANA DREAMS has performed internationally in England, Japan, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Holland, Norway, Switzerland, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, and Argentina for the general pubic as well as Heads’ of State. Some of the venues included the London's Royal Albert, Gran Casino de Monte Carlo (Monaco), Berlin's Friederichstadt Palace just to name a few.
