The Freddie James Project isn't just a band; it's a dynamic force of nature that turns every performance into a spectacular celebration. This high-energy, seven-piece ensemble, led by the magnetic frontman Freddie James, delivers an electrifying show that leaves audiences spellbound and craving more. Born in the musical hotbed of Chicago, Illinois, Freddie moved to Montreal, Quebec, during his childhood, where his passion for music was nurtured by his mother, singer and recording artist Geraldine Hunt.
Freddie’s star began to rise when he burst onto the music scene as a teenager, releasing the iconic disco anthem "Get Up and Boogie" at just 14 years old. This breakout hit not only earned him two Juno Award nominations (Canada's Grammy) in 1980—for Single of the Year and Most Promising Male Vocalist—but also solidified his place in music history as the FIRST artist to achieve gold status with a dance track in Canada. "Get Up and Boogie" was also certified gold and platinum internationally, and that same year, Freddie took home the Canadian Black Music Award for Best Album. He followed this success with the release of his album Sweetness in 1981. Freddie's talents extend beyond his own recordings; he also produced the 1982 million-selling hit "Murphy's Law" for his sister Rosalind Hunt's band, Cheri, which reached #1 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart.
The Freddie James Project has captivated audiences across the globe, with unforgettable performances in Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia, among others. The band has performed with renown recording artists as such as Kool & The Gang, The Jacksons, Gloria Gaynor, KC & The Sunshine Band, Crystal Waters, Thelma Houston to name a few.
Freddie James Project's vast and versatile repertoire spans pop, R&B, dance, reggae, hip-hop, rock, and jazz, ensuring a perfect fit for any event. Whether you're planning an upscale gala or a lively party, the Freddie James Project will elevate your event to extraordinary heights, making it an unforgettable experience. If you want to transform your gathering into an all-out celebration, look no further than the Freddie James Project—the ultimate choice for turning up the heat and keeping the dance floor packed all night long.
