M S. K O K O H
Ms. Kokoh was born in the heart of Texas. Born to two musicians, she was brought up in an environment that treasures the true artistic value of musicianship. Ms. Kokoh honed her stage skills through classical ballet training. Which later at the age of 20 years old, led her to fronting her own jazz band “Mainstream featuring Ms. Kokoh” in Dallas.
She moved to New York City and was signed to RCA/BMG record label. Her first recordings were written and produced by the legendary Leon Ware. He gave us hit songs such as “I Want You” (Marvin Gaye), “Inside My Love” (Minnie Rippleton), “Sumthin’ Sumthin’” (Maxwell), “After The Dance” (Average White Band). As well as, Ms. Kokoh’s title song on her Meltdown cd and the very popular “How Far We Can Go”.
Ms. Kokoh has shared the stage with artists such as Charlie Wilson & The Gap Band, Keith Sweat, Brian McKnight and Phyllis Hyman. She has graced the stages of the Long Beach Jazz Festival and for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
She was the featured resident vocalist at the Grand Opening Of the Langham Hotel In Shenzhen 2013. Ms. Kokoh has a large and supportive fan base between Asia and Europe. This is where she has mainly performed between 2008 and 2019. Invited from venues such as Brown Sugar Taipei/Shanghai, JZ Jazz Hangzhou, House of Blues and Jazz Shanghai and Heyday Vintage Jazz Shanghai. Also, as the resident vocalist at the Shangri La Hotel Changchun, Beijing, The Mira Hotel Hong Kong, The Peninsula Hong Kong and The Le Royal Meridian Shanghai.
Ms. Kokoh’s distinctive voice is magnetic. A galactic songbird , her sounds are soothing and healing to the Soul. Her captivating stage eloquence and personal appeal and ability to reach a listener is a part of her whole package.
